Marianne Carlson presents the “Feria Maestros del Arte” at Open Circle Sunday, August 20, 10:30 a.m. at the Lake Chapala Society.
Lakeside’s 2023 Feria Maestros del Arte - one of Mexico’s finest folk art events - is in its 22nd year. Feria founder and director Carlson will talk about the history of this amazing three-day fair and explain all the exciting things happening this year, especially the featured state of Oaxaca.

The Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera (Auditorio de la Ribera) will hold a showing of short films, nominated for best fiction by the 65 anniversary of the Mexican Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences, Wednesday, August 16, 6 p.m. Showing will be “Agustina” by Luciana Herrara Caso; “Aire” by Kenya Marquez; “El Grillo” by Carlos Hernandez Vazquez; “En Cualquier Lugar” by Minerva Rivera Bolaños; and “Pitbull” by Fabian Leon Lopez.
Yard Sale
American Legion Post 7 hosts a Cases in Crisis Yard Sale fundraiser Friday, August 25, and Saturday, August 26, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The proceeds benefit the Legion’s home repair program for Mexican homeowners. Donations can be dropped off at the Legion.

Mexican Fiesta
The Lake Chapala Society will hold a Mexican Party, Friday, September 1, 3 p.m. at the LCS grounds, as a fundraiser for Ajijic’s 2023 public patriotic celebrations.
From 3 p.m. you can enjoy traditional Mexican food, mariachi and a sayacas show. From 5 to 6 p.m., the kids from the Ballet Folklorico Son de Mexico Infantil perform. Tickets are 500 pesos at the LCS office.
ANAVETS
The Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans Association, ANAVETS Mexico Unit 19, will hold its third anniversary party at Torcello Restaurant in San Antonio, Saturday, September 2, 1 to 5 p.m.
