Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
Sunday, March 17, noon, Rev. Matt Alspaugh, presents “Transformed by an Everyday Grace.”
Easter is coming. In some Christian circles, the story of Easter is about God’s grace, the unmerited gift of redemption by God through Jesus’ death on the cross.
If this kind of grace doesn’t work for most of us, does the idea of grace have any meaning for us? Maybe there is a more ordinary grace that might be ready to transform us. How might we understand and experience grace in a more ordinary, everyday sense?
Carol Johnson is the service associate.
Sunday, service is at noon, at the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship’s new location at San Luis 19 in Riberas del Pilar (one block south of the previous address).

Heritage Baptist Church
Hebrews 2:1. Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. In the midst of a storm a ship’s anchor could become loose and the ship could drift into stormier waters and if close to the coastline could be at risk of drifting onto the rocks unnoticed because of the attention paid to the ferocity of the storm and not the anchor. The same law applies to the church. If it is not moored in Christ it will drift away and smash against the besetting rocks of sin in the church or slowly the things of Christ will be left behind as the modern church slides evermore closer to the troubled waters seeking significance and fame. Don’t allow your heart to be calloused over through years of the gospel striking the heart but never changing it. Don’t allow busyness to take your attention away from the anchor that holds. Pay attention to the anchor, (the gospel) and we will be safe in the harbor of God’s salvation.

Dr. Wayne Cook returns to the pulpit again this week to sort out various measuring sticks. The text is from John 13:1-17 demonstrating God’s Measuring Stick. Dr. Cook refers to a really big metal ruler we probably all have and compares ours to God’s measuring stick. We just lay ours down and instantly know the dimensions of our project. We also have measuring sticks for success. We usually equate success with worldly achievements. When we talk about having a successful child, maybe we brag that our child is smart, maybe a leader, maybe wealthy. But these are measurements of the world. God’s ruler is completely different. He says the greatest person in the kingdom is the greatest servant. So in this passage, Jesus demonstrates God’s measurement for greatness.
The English-language service is at 9:30 a.m., which also streams live at facebook.com/LPCChapala. The Spanish-language service begins at 11 a.m.
