Open Circle
Nancy T. Navarro and Adriana Thornton-Cornejo present “Capturing History: the Life of Walter Thornton” at the next meeting of Open Circle at the Lake Chapala Society, on Sunday, November 24, 10:30 a.m.
Ajijic has been home to many luminaries from the United States and Canada at various times in their lives. For example, the U.S. actress and dancer Zara Alexeyewa, popularly known as “La Rusa” (The Russian), settled in Ajijic in the 1940s.
Navarro and Thornton-Cornejo bring us the story of their father, Walter Thornton, who made Ajijic his home in 1958, living here for over 30 years.
Thornton’s story is chronicled in the book “Capturing History: The Pioneering Expat Who Lived a Second Life in Ajijic.”
End of Life Seminar
Loretta Downs and Cynthia Guzman from Funeral Home San Francisco invite you to a free End of Live Seminar Wednesday, November 27, 1 to 3 p.m. at the American Legion Post 9, Morelos 114 in Chapala. Dinner for kids
Ajijic Tango is holding a fundraising traditional Christmas dinner for three children’s homes, Tuesday, December 3, 9 p.m. Morelos 19. Tickets are 650 pesos per person. 100 percent of the ticket price goes to the children’s homes.

• A Spanish conversation Club is held every Thursday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera (CCAR). There is no cost, but space is limited.
