Ten months after work began, a 15-kilometer stretch of highway between Mascota and Puerto Vallarta has been repaired and is operational.
The section of road was closed last August after being severely damaged by seasonal deluges.
According to Netzahualcoyotl Ornelas, director of Jalisco’s Department of Infrastructure and Public Works, the total cost of the repairs, which involved moving 180,000 cubic meters of earth and the construction of a 128-meter bridge, came to 91 million pesos, or about $US4.5 million.
