La Manzanilla Memo - November 4, 2017
Even though the calendar tells me that it is November and the thermometers are still singing HOT! HOT! HOT!, there are definite hints around the town that summer is officially over.

Best Little Coffee Café
Tucked into a little corner shop of the Grand Caymen Hotel, located on Lazaro Cardenas, the main street coming into La Manzanilla, Café du Calcetin brews up the best cup of joe you can get on the Costa Allegra.
‘Sylvia’
Bare Bones Readers Theatre’s premier of “Sylvia,” a two-act play written by A. R. Gruny and directed by La Manzanilla’s own Arleen Pace, was, in my opinion, the best night of entertainment held this season.
The Devil’s Defender
John Henry Browne. Do you recognize the name? No, well how about Ted Bundy? Many more “yes” answers on that one I’m sure. Here’s the connection. John Henry Browne was the infamous serial killer’s defense attorney. Browne has recently published his autobiography, “The Devil’s Defender.”
Women’s March
On January 21, 400 citizens and expats of La Manzanilla joined the millions of other people around the world in a peaceful protest march against the threat of losing not only women’s rights, but human rights.
Congratulations
On September 18, long-time life partners and long-time La Manzanilla expats, Jose “Ginger” Rogers and Scottie Turner, exchanged vows and rings.
Wasn’t That a Party?
As the town overflowed with tourists, 2017 was ushered in with all-night-long celebrations.
