New play brings wit and charm to ‘unknown story’ of Mexican-American collaboration

A handful of bigger-than-life historical characters—including Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln, Maximiliano I and his wife Carlota, Benito Juarez, General Ulysses Grant and Secretary of State William Seward—are audaciously brought to life in Michael Hogan’s new play, “Lincoln and Mexico—The Untold Story,” which premiered last week at the American School in Guadalajara.

People interested in the Democratic party, along with their friends and relatives, are invited to see the movie “In a Better World” in the home of a member on Sunday, April 2, 2 p.m. Spokesperson Jude Wallesen emphasized that new attendees are welcome. 

Great balls of light

Huge spheres are being installed in Guadalajara’s Plaza de la Liberacion this week will be illuminated during the city’s upcoming Festival of Light.

This spectacle covering a significant section of the historic downtown core takes place each evening between 6:30 and 10:30 p.m., from Wednesday, February 15 through Sunday, February 19. As well as digital mapping of major buildings and monuments in the city center, there will be plenty of entertainment and surprises.  No charge for this event that also celebrates Guadalajara’s 475th birthday.
