The Satellite Rotary E-Club of Lake Chapala honored 20 local students on Saturday, May 23 for their efforts in community involvement during the club’s “Youth Recognition Month.”
After a year of planning, coding, adjusting and designing by three hard-working techie volunteers, the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) has proudly unveiled its stunning new website.

In addition to engaging in their day-to-day duties, staff at Chapala’s Unidad de Proteccion Civil y Bomberos have kept busy this month attending advanced training programs to improve their firefighting skills.
Chapala marked the commemoration of the Dia de la Marina (Navy Day) with a traditional ceremony held early Monday, June 1 at the waterfront Malecon. Local Luis Jorge Ochoa presided at the event, accompanied by Mayor Joaquin Huerta and Bernardo Gutierrez Navarro, head of the Jalisco headquarters for the Federal Ministry of Communications and Transport.
Ajijic’s waterfront Malecon will be the setting for the second annual Festival del Papalote (Kite Fest) from Friday, May 29 through Sunday, May 31. Activities get under way on Friday from 1 p.m., with troubadour Moises set to perform at 3 p.m. and free workshops in kite-making paper folding, and other handicrafts, starting 4 p.m.
