Guadalajara recently placed ninth on Airbnb’s list of 20 top trending destinations for 2020.
As of September, Guadalajara has received over 155,000 Airbnb bookings – a 158-percent increase compared to the same period last year.
“Mexico’s second-most populous city is earning the recognition it deserves,” noted a recent Airbnb statement.
Among more than 300 current listings, one Guadalajara property called “Posada 911” recently celebrated its fifth year of operations. With the traditional Spanish-style interior courtyard surrounded by six bedrooms and verdant plants, the downtown Airbnb listing has gradually welcomed folks from every continent.
For Tapatío resident and property manager Daniel Dominguez, this living arrangement is popular for those seeking immersion in the Spanish language. In his opinion, locals speak a “neutral” Spanish that makes it easier for learners to comprehend.
