Dear Sir,
It is unfortunate that Dale Palfrey’s guidance on pedestrian etiquette on the Lakeside ciclovia (cycle path) perpetuates ignorance of the proper behaviour of pedestrians on a mixed-use trail.
To be quite clear, pedestrians must walk on the right, in the same directions as the bicycle riders. The rule is clear - slowest traffic on the right and that includes pedestrians.
As for her fear of being struck by a bicycle from behind, I have been jogging and walking on the right on the ciclopista for two years and have never been struck by a bicycle from behind.
