Where to celebrate the Grito

Lakesiders have a number of options to celebrate Fiestas Patrias this weekend with special menus, Mexican music and dancing, fireworks and tequila.

Arileo is offering a special menu of Aztec Soup, chiles en nogada, arrachera stuffed with spinach and cheese and a strawberry crepe with tequila ice cream, in addition to their regular menu. September 15-17. Reservations: 106-1627.

Hacienda Don Pedro’s Mexican Fiesta party menu includes green salad, corn soup, biscuits, a choice of BBQ ribs, arrachera with baked potato or roasted pork shank in red sauce, banana cake, coffee, a glass of champagne and four drinks with live music and a grito ceremony for 600 pesos. September 15, 8 p.m.-1 a.m. Reservations: 766-4906.

La Nueva Posada’s special Viva Mexico! menu for September 15 and 16 is green salad with nopal, pipian-style chicken breast, rice, beans, a crispy taco and rice pudding. Reservations: 766-1444.

Los Telares’ Independence Day celebrations includes special food, tequila, music and lots of fun all day. September 15 and 16. Reservations: 766-0428.

Manix will have a special 30th anniversary Independence Day celebration menu of chiles en nogada, shrimp cocktail and dessert. Live music will be enjoyed both on September 15 and 16. The cost is 220 pesos. Reservations: 766-0061.

Maria Isabel is holding a 3-9 p.m. happy hour and grill party for 120 pesos, including a fireworks show, September 15. Reservations: 333-676-4042.

Roberto’s will celebrate September 16 with food, music by Sol and Luna, dancing and fireworks from 6-9 p.m. The menu includes Mexican caesar salad, chile en nogada, enchiladas a la bandera (shrimp, chicken and pork) and jericallas for dessert for 195 pesos with 30-peso margaritas and beer. Yves’ is offing a free margarita with lunch or dinner. September 16. Reservations: 766-3565.

Viva Mexico Restaurant is celebrating its anniversary September 16 from 4 p.m. with Mariachi Son de la Rivera and Ballet Folclorico Coxala, both from San Juan Cosala. A Mexican buffet and a tasting of tequila Real de Atoto are part of the fun. Cost is 150 pesos. Reservations: (333)156-2245.
