Brazil’s Thiago Alves claimed victory at the second ATP Jalisco Open Tennis tournament, held in the Telcel Tennis Center in the Parque Metropolitano.
It took the 29-year-old Brazilian one hour and 33 minutes to defeat Italian Paolo Lorenzi 6-3, 7-6 and take the top prize of 14,400 dollars.
In doubles, American James Cerratani and Canadian Adil Shamasdin (left) bested Tomasz Bednarek (Poland) and Olivier Charroin (France) 7-6, 6-1 to earn their 6,200-dollar check. While Cerratani/Shamasdin entered the tournament with the highest ranking of any pair, Alves was near the middle of the pack for singles competitors.
