Now that’s cool: School shuts down for World Cup

The Jalisco Education Department (SEP) will allow teachers to bring televisions into their classrooms so students can watch Mexico’s World Cup games.

All the opening round games coincide with school hours. SEP has made the concession to avoid absenteeism. Teachers and school directors will have the final say on whether classes are interrupted for the World Cup. The games are being shown on Friday, June 13, Tuesday, June 17 and Monday, June 23.
