Sergio “Checo” Perez, Guadalajara’s Formula One race driver, will be an “ambassador” for the state of Jalisco during the 2022 season, which begins March 20 with the Bahrain Grand Prix.
The logo of the “Jalisco es México” brand, which is owned by the Jalisco Tourism Department (Secturjal), will appear on Perez’s Red Bull team helmet throughout the nine-month, 23-race season.
“This means that this state will be exposed to an average audience of 87.4 million people for each Grand Prix—around two billion people worldwide during 2022,” a Secturjal news release said.
The cost of the promotional campaign will be around $US1.2 million.
