Want a ringside seat to see Canelo in action… better take out a mortgage

Demand for tickets for boxer Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’s homecoming fight was so high that nearly all were snapped up within a few hours of going on sale Tuesday, March 21.

The world title fight with British challenger John Ryder takes place at Guadalajara’s Akron Stadium on Saturday, May 6.

pg10aTickets went on sale at booths at the stadium, and on the Ticketmaster online platform, at 11 a.m.  The cheapest seats in the 50,000-capacity stadium, priced at 420 and 720 pesos, were the first ones to sell out.  From there, the ticket price scale went from 1,800 pesos, going up in 600-peso increments, to 8,200 pesos. The seats closest to the ring cost 26,200, 36,200, 41,200, 46,200 and 51,200 pesos ($US2,765).

As of press time, only the top-priced seats were available.
