As previously reported, Castro, 34, arrived from Los Angeles on August 5 to visit family members who apparently did not welcome the visit. After spending three weeks in the airport, she was finally taken in by a relative, with whom she stayed for another two or three weeks.
She later returned to the airport and bought a ticket home, but then said she felt unwell and decided not to board the plane. This led to a second extended stay in the terminal, with Castro spending most of her time in an Oxxo convenience store, according to airport staff interviewed by Spanish-language daily Mural.
The airport’s unlikely resident has not been seen since October 17 and is presumed to have finally flown home.
