Metro area is stop-start nightmare for drivers

The 2014 Castrol Magnatec Stop-Start Index examined traffic conditions in 78 key cities and regions around the globe, including China, Asia, Australia, Europe and the Americas. “The index shows how increasingly heavy traffic, stopping and starting so many times, and more accelerating is affecting journey times and driving conditions around the world, and how the severity differs in major markets,” the website for the study declares.

According to the research, Mexico City and Guadalajara are almost equally as bad for drivers, while Monterrey is significantly better.   Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia was ranked as the worst city in the world for stops and starts but at 27.22 percent, there was less average idling time than in Guadalajara.
