Car thieves caught out in traffic jam

After ejecting a driver from his Nissan Tsuru at the point of a gun this week, the robbers zoomed down Ocho de Julio and entered the tunnel at Avenida Washington.  Meanwhile, the victim had alerted police with a description of the vehicle and a search quickly ensued.

But the carjackers clearly had scant knowledge of the city’s trouble spots and found themselves stuck in bumper-to-bumper slow-moving traffic as they exited the tunnel.  Spotted in the tailback by police officers, the pair abandoned the car and made off on foot.  Their athletic abilities turned out to be as deficient as their criminal skills and they barely got 20 meters before they were wrestled to the ground by officers.
