Guadalajara-based Cerveza Minerva, one of the country’s original craft beers, has sent its first shipment to the United States.
Company founder Jesus Briseño said the eventual aim will be to export to many countries, but the focus for now will be on Mexico’s northern neighbor.
Minerva was founded in 2003 and has expanded exponentially over the past 15 years to become the nation’s largest crafts brewery, producing two million liters of beer annually. In recent years, its four original brews – Pale Ale, Stout, Viena and Colonial – have been augmented by three specialist lines: El Dorado IPA, Minerva ITA (Imperial Tequila Ale) and Diosa Blanca. Earlier this year, Minerva launched its first canned beers.
To help them in their task of expanding overseas, Briseño has appointed an experienced new director general, Carlos Nava.
