The Instituto Metropolitano de Planeación and the Zapopan municipality are both analyzing a proposal from Chinese companies to install a scooter share program in various parts of the city.
Zapopan Mayor Pablo Lemus says his staff are looking into the possibility of setting up such a program in outlying areas of the municipality where residents are obliged to walk long distances to catch buses.
Scooter sharing is a recent “micro-mobility” option that has seen successful launches in the United States and other cities around the world.
