Municipal Guadalajara to start vaccinations this weekend

Covid-19 vaccinations for people over age 60 will start at nine locations in the Guadalajara municipality in the metropolitan area on Saturday, March 20.

pg5aContrary to initial reports, the inoculations will not be carried out in alphabetical order but “by zone,” as has been the format in other parts of the state.

The vaccination schedule will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or “until the scheduled doses per day are finished,” the Jalisco Health Department (SSJ) said.

The vaccination teams plan to administer 80,925 Pfizer vaccines in the municipality during this inoculation phase. According to 2020 census figures, the number of citizens over age 60 in the Guadalajara municipality is over 230,000.

Residents of other municipalities will not be allowed to obtain the vaccine and must wait their turn, the SSJ said.

The vaccination locations are:

• Parque Agua Azul

• El CODE Alcalde

• El Parque Ávila Camacho

• NEl CODE Paradero

• Antigua Penal de Oblatos

• La Explanada del Instituto Cultural Cabaña

• El Centro Universitario de Arte, Arquitectura y Diseño (CUAAD)

• El Museo del Ejército y la Fuerza Aérea

The CUAAD, located in the Huentitán neighborhood, will function as a “drive through” vaccination site, primarily for older adults with mobility difficulties.
