Tax break for green conscious citizens?
Jalisco legislators are proposing offering tax incentives to citizens who install solar panels and rainwater capture systems on their properties.
Partido Institucional Revolucionario (PRI) legislator Manuel Alfaro Lozano presented an amendment to the Municipal Finance Law that would allow municipalities to grant such discounts in the annual predial, or property tax. The proposal would permit each municipal council the right to determine the amount of discount offered to taxpayers.
Mexico extends arm of friendship
The Mexican government has donated 400,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Belize, Bolivia and Paraguay. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said the donation was an “act of solidarity” to “promote access to vaccines in the region.” AstraZeneca vaccines are being produced and packaged at pharmaceutical outfits in Argentina and Mexico under a collaborative agreement between the two governments and the parent company, with backing from the Carlos Slim Foundation.
