A Lamborghini driven by an unknown person burst into flames after hitting a wall and overturning in the tunnel running beneath the intersection of avenidas Americas and Lopez Mateos.
The driver perished in the fireball.
The north-south section of the heavily used tunnel was closed for six hours as emergency crews worked at the scene. The vehicle, which was registered in the state of Morelos, has a top speed of 220 mph and an estimated value of around $US200,000.
