The new BRT bus network (Peribus) on the Guadalajara Periferico (city beltway) will officially open on January 31, Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro announced this week.
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has yet to confirm whether he will be attending the ceremony, Alfaro said.
Work on the project started in early November 2019, and its projected finish date is only a few months behind schedule.
The new bus line, which is also known as Mi Macro Periférico, runs along the center of the busy ring road, incorporating 42 stations along its 41.5-kilometer circular route.
Vehicles are prohibited from entering the dedicated bus lanes running in both directions, and transgressors could face fines of up to 19,000 pesos.
The Periférico will, however, remain a six-lane road, and also feature some revamped laterales in several stretches.
