Met Opera back with a bang

Saturday, May 20, the Metropolitan Opera Live in HD series present Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Mozart’s masterpiece based the legend of Don Juan that blends comedy and melodrama to magnificent effect.

pg6cSays the Met webiste: “Tony Award–winning director of Broadway’s A View from the Bridge and West Side Story, Ivo van Hove makes a major Met debut with a new take on Mozart’s tragicomedy, re-setting the familiar tale of deceit and damnation in an abstract architectural landscape and shining a light into the dark corners of the story and its characters.”

Maestro Nathalie Stutzmann makes her Met debut conducting a star-studded cast led by baritone Peter Mattei as a magnetic Don Giovanni, alongside the Leporello of bass-baritone Adam Plachetka.

The transmission will be at the Conjunto de las Artes Escénicas in Guadalajara on Saturday, May 20, 11 a.m. Tickets, 160-300 pesos, are available online at conjuntosantander.com/listado-boletos, or at the theater box office.

The Conjunto is located just off the Guadalajara Periferico (ring road), in Colonia Parque Industrial Belenes Norte, in Zapopan. Easily reached from the Guadalajara-Chapala highway.

The following Met Live transmission at the Conjunto will be a showing of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” on Saturday, June 3, 11 a.m.
