GDL pharmacies start stocking Covid vaccines

The latest Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine that offers protection against the Omicron XBB.1.5 variant is now on sale in the Guadalajara metropolitan area, according to the city’s two largest pharmacy chains.

Farmacias Guadalajara says it is selling and applying the vaccine at four branches: in Plaza Patria, at its outlet at the junction of avenidas Guadalupe and Patria, the one on Avenida Paseo Andares and at Avenida López Mateos Sur 1400 (Gavilanes).

Benavides says the vaccine is available at its Jardín Real, Manuel Acuña, Bugambilias and Plaza del Sol branches.

At Farmacias Guadalajara, customers will need to make an appointment to get the shot, online at pharmaclinic.com.mx or by calling 33-3818-1818.  The cost is 840 pesos. The chain also offers influenza vaccines for 449 pesos and for shingles (herpes zóster) for 2,849 pesos. However, the influenza vaccine is offered free of charge at all Jalisco Health Department (SSJ) clinics.

The Jalisco Cruz Roja (Red Cross) says in early January it will start offering the Covid vaccine for an as yet unannounced cost at its headquarters next to the Parque Morelos in the city center and in the International Vaccination Center installed in the Chamber of Commerce at Avenida Vallarta an Niño Obrero.
