Homeless perish on GDL streets

At least four people living on the Guadalajara streets may have died as a result of hypothermia this winter, according to municipal authorities.

A homeless man was found lifeless on Sunday, January 7 at the intersections of calles Calderón de la Barca and Eulogio Parra at around 8 a.m. Also on January 7, neighbors discovered the body of a man on the sidewalk in the Víctor Hugo neighborhood of Zapopan, although it has not been confirmed whether he succumbed to the cold or for another reason.  Previous metro-area deaths from hypothermia were confirmed on December 8 in the Tetlán neighborhood and on December 29 in the parking lot of the Estadio Jalisco. On January 3, another homeless man died of cold in the streets of the El Mirador neighborhood.
