GDLUZ suspended Friday
Due to the threat of rain, the nighttime GDLuz sound and light festival in downtown Guadalajara will be suspended on Friday, February 16. It will resume as normal on Saturday, and last an additional day, ending on Monday, February 18, instead of Sunday.
Governor gets Covid
Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro revealed February 13 that he had contracted Covid-19 and was isolating until further notice. On social media, he described his symptoms as “a light cold.” He was also infected in January 2022.
Platform drivers protest
Uber and Didi drivers staged a protest outside the Guadalajara airport to demand an end to what they say is abuse and persecution by National Guard officers patrolling the facility. The drivers accuse the officers of being in the pay of the airport taxi network, saying they are often prevented from dropping off passengers at the terminal, something they are permitted to do.
Seafood safety measures
Health officers will visit 700 seafood establishments in Jalisco during Lent to check that food safety measures are being followed.
