A quick-thinking motorist captures on camera the moment when the driver of an SUV this week tried to outrun a freight train at the crossing located on the highway to Nogales and the Camino al CUCBA.
The train dragged 30-year-old woman’s vehicle for around 30 meters before coming to a halt.
Officers from Zapopan Civil Protection and municipal paramedics attended to the injured women, who was transferred to the Cruz Verde Santa Lucía and later to the Real San José Hospital. Her condition was later reported to be satisfactory. All motorists should be aware that there are no barriers or gates at railroad crossings in metropolitan Guadalajara, or elsewhere in Jalisco. You must listen out for the train horns, which will usually be sounded well before the train reaches the crossing. Some crossings have lights, but these are often not working.
