Scouts practice generosity

On Saturday two members of Guadalajara’s Girl Scouts of America troop (USAGSO GDL) are absorbed in their huge set of colored markers as they craft 60 individual greeting cards and name tags to go inside backpacks filled with toys going to underprivileged children at Christmas time.

The project to benefit the backpack recipients was conceived with Teresa Estrada, a troop parent who works with the charity Azul Maria, and the secondhand shop Tres Flores located inside the American Society of Jalisco (AMSOC). The troop, the only one outside of the 50 U.S. states, has 15 to 20 members, all of whom have a strong connection to the United States. They use primarily English in their activities. Find them on Facebook and Instagram as USA-GSO Guadalajara.
