IDs may be required at city’s Nueva bus station

Amid reports of approximately 30 missing persons linked to the New Guadalajara Bus Station (Central Camionera Nueva), Tlaquepaque Mayor Laura Imelda Pérez Segura announced an initiative to send to the  Jalisco Congress, proposing a law requiring all travelers—departing and arriving at the facility—to present official identification, similar to airport protocols.

The measure aims to create a database of traveler information and routes, enhancing security, particularly for minors.

Although Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro initially denied the severity of the issue, the state government has now acknowledged the bus station’s security concerns. Families of victims have reported that relatives arriving from out of state may have been deceived by individuals offering false job opportunities, leading to their disappearance.

To address the problem, the state government, along with other institutions, has begun distributing flyers and informational materials at the station, urging travelers to exercise caution and avoid engaging with individuals loitering around the facility and making dubious employment offers.
