CORRIDO CONTEST
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has announced plans to launch a contest for corrido bands, aiming to promote a version of the traditional Mexican musical genre that celebrates cultural themes without glorifying violence or misogyny, as is often the case in current lyrics.
Sheinbaum emphasized that the initiative is not about banning certain types of music but about encouraging a shift in focus, referring to the fact that Mexican corridos frequently promote a lifestyle tied to drug trafficking.
FALLING TEMPERATURES
Jalisco’s Secretary of Education, Juan Carlos Flores Miramontes, has urged the directors of basic-level schools to adopt a flexible approach regarding uniforms and absences as the colder weather sets in. Respiratory illnesses typically surge when early morning temperatures drop in early December, prompting the need for students to wear additional layers to stay warm and protected.
