Plans were released this week to build a Hard Rock Hotel next to Guadalajara’s iconic “cube statue” at the convergence of avenidas Vallarta and Lazaro Cardenas.

Parking in a significant area of the Guadalajara metropolitan will be a lot less expensive – for a short while at least. 

Pedro Kumamoto, Jalisco’s only independent state legislator, believes an opportunity is being wasted if plans to construct a BRT bus line on the city Periferico (beltway) are put on the back burner by the state government.

The opening of Guadalajara’s new aquarium in the Parque Alcalde was postponed on February 14 due to issues related to the transportation of several species, according to its developers. A new date will be set, possibly in March.

The Goethe Institute looks set to return Guadalajara.  The German cultural center closed suddenly in 2011 leaving a vacuum for many students of the language. This void was quickly filled by an existing school, Bezirk, which has steadily grown to 300 students and 15 teachers.  

Around 250 firefighters and civil protection officers from several municipalities battled bravely for 20 hours to extinguish a gasoline pipeline fire on the western outskirts of Guadalajara this week.
