The Canadian city of Vancouver hosts Mexico Fest 2012 this month, an annual celebration of all things Mexican hosted by the Mexican Consulate in British Columbia.
Since its inception in 2008, Mexico Fest has attracted increasing interest from the local community, with a focus on Oaxaca, Mazatlan and Guerrero in previous years. This time the area around Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit are in the spotlight.
Events include a Culinary Week from September 5 to 16, with unique specials offered at various Mexican restaurants across the city. An Independence Gala Dinner on September 7 will feature a show, mariachi music and dancing, while the following day’s Fiesta Mexico Independence 2012 will have live music by Los Claxons.There will also be a Mexican cinema day on September 5, a golf tournament on September 12, an art exhibit from September 1 to 16, and a travel and trade expo on September 7 and 8.
