Guillermo del Toro hopes The Revue, Toronto’s oldest movie theater in use, will stay open.

Del Toro was the highest-profile figure to make his views felt on social media to support the Revue Cinema, as the landlord prepared to issue an eviction notice to its current tenants.

Del Toro, who is currently in Toronto filming “Frankenstein,” has called the Ontario capital his “second home”: “The arts, the food, the culture, the idiosyncrasy of its shops and shop owners. I love it.  I feel like I am a Torontonian filmmaker.”

In addition to several other films, Del Toro shot his Oscar-winning movie, “The Shape of Water,” in Toronto in 2016.
