Chapala’s soccer team has found a rich vein of form to progress to the semi finals of the annual Copa Jalisco amateur competition, after clobbering Tuxcueca in two back-to-back encounters.
Chapala downed its rival from the lake’s south shore 3-1 on Sunday, May 2, for a global score of 6-3 over the two quarter-final games.
The local futbolistas face off against Ixtlahucán de los Membrillos in the first of two matches set for Sunday, May 9, noon, at the Juan Rayo Campo Municipal located at the north end of Avenida Madero. The return leg of the semi final takes place a week later at Ixtlahucán’s home stadium.
In conformance with Covid restrictions, seating space at the Chapala stadium will be limited, with no admittance for children under age 12. The game will be transmitted live on the Gobierno de Chapala Facebook page.
The winners of the Chapala/Ixtlahucán encounter will face either Cihuatlán or Autlán de Navarro in the final.
