Chapalenses reject second aqueduct proposal 

Chapala residents and politicians from the lakeshore region are raising hell over a proposal to solve the critical water shortages in the Guadalajara metropolitan area (ZMG) by constructing a new aqueduct to extract the vital liquid from Lake Chapala.

The idea was recently put forward by Carlos Lomeli, the Morena Party candidate for the Guadalajara mayor’s seat.  He suggested that a second Chapala-Guadalajara aqueduct would be complemented by a deep drainage line to collect rainfall that would be channeled across the metropolis from the Agua Azul Park to the Huentitán Canyon, feeding into the Santiago River.
