Ajijic dedicates October 31 to La Virgen del Rosario

Ajijic’s month-long devotions honoring Our Lady of the Rosary come to an end Sunday, October 31, with fund-raising activities scheduled to support the restoration of the Capilla del Rosario located at the northwest corner of the village plaza.

The annual Carrera del Rosario foot race, suspended last year because of the Covid-19 pandemic, kicks off at 9 a.m. on Calle Colón just outside the chapel. The finish line for five- and ten-kilometer routes is at the same spot. Runners in male and female divisions will compete in either the Libre category for ages 15 to 39, or the Master category for those age 40 and up. The athletic event is also open to walkers and joggers wishing to contribute to the cause.

The registration fee for all participants is 200 pesos, including a commemorative t-shirt, medal and hydration drink. Sign up by Saturday, October 30, with Mónica Gutiérrez at the Pollería (chicken store) at Calle Parroquia 14, opposite the south side of the plaza.
