Lake claims drowning victim

A local fisherman drowned in Lake Chapala Sunday, November 14, after the small vessel he and two companions were using capsized while they were rowing back to shore in the vicinity of Riberas del Pilar.

Two of the pescadores made it safely back to land, calling for help to find their mate.

A Civil Protection search and rescue team, assisted by personnel from the Chapala Harbormaster’s unit and a number of volunteers, set out to look for the missing man after the incident was reported around 9 p.m.

The corpse of the 36-year-old male identified as Moisés ¨N¨ was found at 1:45 p.m. the following day, submerged in the water approximately 10 meters away from the point where the overturned boat was located.
