Aguirre keeps busy meeting agenda with bigwigs

With barely a month at the helm of City Hall under his belt, Chapala Mayor Alejandro Aguirre has spent much of the past six weeks hobnobbing with state and federal officials and other public figures to seek support for programs and projects of benefit to his constituents.

On November 10, Aguirre flew to Mexico City to meet with 350 mayors from around the country to lobby federal legislators to approve a fair share of the 2022 budget for municipal governments. Two days later, he visited the office of David Miguel Zamora, secretary of Jalisco’s Infrastructure and Public Works Department, to discuss next year’s state funding for local street and highway upgrades, school improvements and continuation of the Auditorio de la Ribera makeover.
