Ajijic was among the nine Jalisco destinations participating in the fourth edition of the Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos held October 11 through 14 in the Centro Cultural y de Convenciones in Santa Lucia del Camino, Oaxaca.
The event was inaugurated by Mexico’s Tourism Minister Miguel Torruco Marqùes and Oaxaca Governor Alejandro Murat Hinojosa to showcase the distinctive cultural, historical and natural attractions of the country’s 132 Pueblos Mágicos.
The Ajijic stand was mounted and manned by Alejandro Sahagún, president of the Ajijic Pueblo Mágico Citizens Committee, Ajijic Town Administrator Max Macias, and Chapala tourism officials Jesús Medeles and Alejandro Fernández. Torruco was among the visitors who stopped by to view the display of assorted commercial goods and crafts produced in Ajijic and Chapala. Items included samples of the town’s typical tachihual bread, hand-loomed textiles, works by local artists and masks of Sayaco dancers.
