The Lake Chapala Society (LCS) will host its second annual Intercultural Celebration of Life and Honoring Death Festival on October 29 and 30.
The purpose of this festival is to complement the Mexican Day of the Dead traditions with various activities running during the latter half of October.
The program begins with setting up the “Before I Die” wish boards as of Monday, October 16, allowing local people to express hopes for personal and universal goals to be accomplished during their lifetimes.
Alfredo Perez Aldana will repeat his Day of the Dead Altar class on Thursday, October 26, followed by altar-building and viewing on Monday, October 30.
A special event for local children is the Halloween party set for Sunday, October 29, from 2 to 5 p.m. Last year the event attracted 125 youngsters and attendance is expected to nearly double this time.
