In an effort to deal with limited space in Chapala’s overcrowded cemetery, the municipal government has designed a columbarium wall for the interment of cremated remains as an alternative to conventional burial.
The new crypt area will be installed in the Descanso foyer at the entrance of the Panteón Municipal opening from Calle Venustiano Carranza. It will consist of 314 niches with a capacity for four or eight urns.
Details of when the columbariums will be ready for occupations and costs involved for their purchase are being handled by the Panteones Municipales department office located at Chapala City Hall.
