Owners of Jalisco-plated vehicles can take advantage of the discount for the payment of the 2024 refrendo (registration renewal) during the first month of the year.
Payments made during January at state tax offices, bank counters and convenience stores, as well as online, receive a 10-percent discount.
The costs established in the 2023 Revenue Law for cars, trucks and tractor-trailers is set at 734 pesos.
The fee for motorcycle owners is 314 pesos. All hybrid vehicles receive a 50-percent discount on the tax, while the owners of electric vehicles are exempt from paying refrendo.
Additional fees totaling 63 pesos tagged onto the bill are earmarked to support two non-profit institutions. The Jalisco Delegation of the Mexican Red Cross receives 34 pesos per vehicle, with 29 pesos going to the Casa Hogar Cabañas orphanage.
Other charges may be added on for unpaid traffic fines and late payment fees that appear on government records.
To facilitate payments and avoid crowds at the tax offices, the January discount is applicable in the online payment system through the official website gobiernoenlinea1.jalisco.gob.mx/vehicular. To carry out the electronic procedure, users will need to provide the vehicle license plate number and the last five digits of the engine’s serial number. Those figures are found on the Tarjetas de Circulation (registration cards) and official receipts issued in previous years.
In-person refrendo payments are collected at any of Jalisco’s 135 recaudadoras (tax offices). Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The address of Chapala’s Recaudadora 26 is Degollado 217. The Jocotepec branch 46 is located at Matamoros Sur 76.
