Mayor-elect Hugo García Vargas (“Bombín”) together with three other men and three women will hold the majority of Jocotepec’s council seats for the leftist Morena coalition Sigamos Haciendo Historia.
García Vargas has been a Futuro Party councilor in Jocotepec for the past three years.He succeeds José Miguel Gómez López of the Movimiento Ciudadano (MC), who served two consecutive term as mayor, from 2018-2021 and 2021-2024.
María Dolores López Haro will represent the MC—in the minority for the first time in 12 years—along with one other woman and one man, while Fabian Olmedo Navarro earned a single seat for Fuerza y Corzaón por Jalisco, the PRI/PAN/PRD alliance.
