The Lake Chapala Society closes its annual intercultural festival to celebrate life and honor death on Monday, October 28 with a bilingual candlelight bereavement ceremony from 5 to 6 p.m.
The tribute to those who are gone from sight but kept in heart offers time for reflection and remembrance. It will feature artists, musicians and motivational speakers joining together to create a powerful and emotional celebration of life, along with the lighting of luminarias and memorial cards.
Before or after the ceremony, those in attendance may stroll through the view of the Day of the Dead altars put on display earlier in the day. Traditional Pan de Muerto and hot chocolate will be served from 6 to 6:30 p.m.
The event is open to the public free of charge.
Activities scheduled on prior dates include a class on Día de Muertos traditions, Thursday, October 24, 2 p.m., and the Open Circle presentation “How Rituals can Heal Grief” by Loretta Downs, Sunday, October 27, 10:30 a.m.
