Local tax and service fees set to increase in 2025

Chapala taxpayers should prepare for higher bills in 2025. Members of the Jalisco State Legislature have unanimously approved the Revenue Law for the upcoming fiscal year, exactly as drafted by the Chapala Municipal government.

pg24bChapala’s 2025 Ley de Ingresos proposed a general increase of eight percent in duties, contributions, fees and tariffs, allowing the city to collect resources estimated to add up to 565,923,149.62 pesos ($US28.55 million).  This projected revenue foresees an anticipated 42.8-million-peso increase over this year’s estimated income. The revenue breakdown anticipates collections of 183,748,808 pesos in taxes, 123,163,076.96 pesos for duties, 6,434,141.80 pesos for products, 814,153.46 pesos for benefits, and 156,863,367 pesos for participations.

The eight percent increase aligns with the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) forecast for 2025.

The hike also applies to residential water and sewage services provided by SIMAPA, along with installation costs for pipeline conduits and connections, as approved last month by the agency’s tariff commission. Charges for industrial water and sewage services will see a 10-percent increase.

The new rates will take effect when City Hall staff return to work after the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
