Local children happily enjoyed dozens of juicy apples handed out by Chapala police and firefighters on January 6 at the city’s Malecón.
Now in its tenth year, the Operation Apple initiative serves as a public relations campaign aimed at building trust between young people and the community’s security officials.
The annual event, celebrated on Three Kings Day, is promoted by Doug Ransom, with cases of fruit provided by the lakeside ANAVETS veterans’ organization. On hand to connect with the kids were police officers Mayele Sevilla and Josué Ceja Palacio, along with Lieutenant Rafael Suárez and paramedic Juan José Razo from the Bomberos Fire Department.
