ANAVETS Mexico Unit #19 spread Christmas cheer in the village of San Juan Tecomatlán, when representatives of the group and Santa Claus pulled into town on December 22 to deliver gifts to more than 200 local children.
Every child gathered for the holiday hand-out received an age-appropriate toy and a bag of candy. All the toys and sweet goodies were donated by ANAVETS members and friends, or purchased with cash donations.
Santa and his helpers delighted in seeing dozens of smiles break out on the kids’ faces, while the parents looked on happily from the sides.
Unit #19 has been involved in Christmas toys-for-tots campaigns since it was founded in 2020. The group’s leaders are grateful to everyone who contributed to the cause, with special thanks to Service Officer Mark Horodecky who spearheaded this year’s toy drive.
Unit #19 is the first international branch of ANAVETS, Canada’s oldest military veterans organization. Its purpose is to support veterans, members of all nationalities, and the community at large.
