Active members of the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) gathered on Wednesday, March 19, for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to conduct the regular yearly business, including the election of officers to fill eight vacant seats on the board of directors.
Voting procedures, conducted both in person and via Zoom, began approximately 45 minutes into the meeting as Item 13 on the Order of the Day. The three executive officers, who ran unopposed, were elected by acclamation: Hunter Johnson, president; Yolanda Martínez, vice president; and Yuray Rivero, treasurer.
Six candidates were listed on the printed ballot for five contested director-at-large positions. One candidate withdrew prior to the meeting, and two additional names were nominated from the floor as write-in candidates.
The top vote-getters for the open director’s seats were Phil Rylett, who earned 130 votes for his first term on the board, and John Henry, with 120 votes for a second term. Mike Platt, by a razor-thin margin, received 116 votes to serve another term, while Karla Boentgen was elected for the first time with 115 votes. Greg Custer secured 107 votes to repeat his position.
Write-in candidates Jack Knudsen and Shelley Edson did not secure enough votes, receiving 104 and 49 votes, respectively. Candidate Dee Dee Camhi withdrew her name prior to the AGM for personal reasons.
