B.J. Collins has announced Lakeside Tech Solutions (the company he founded and has led since January 2025) has transformed into Cuidatec, reflecting a strategic shift. The rebrand of the company emphasizes a focus on emerging technologies—including artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR)—and an exclusive commitment to research & development of consumer applications.
Cuidatec’s rebranding represents a pivot from being a generalist technology services provider to becoming a research and product development company.
Going forward, the company will no longer provide IT consulting and related services, and it will operate as a product-focused R&D company. Cuidatec develops applications and technologies for distribution through digital channels, with the intent of expanding beyond the regional market where the company first began operations.
Collins said, “Many of the ideas for apps that could utilize technologies we developed in emerging areas of the industry (AI and AR) were based on actual individuals here at Lakeside, seeing problems that most of the tech industry doesn’t see. It’s been a laboratory of sorts to us in an amazing way, and we hope that the products that are announced shortly will help the population here—and globally as well.”
As part of its restructuring, Cuidatec will wind down office-based operations in Riberas del Pilar and will concentrate resources across technology hubs that support product development and recruitment.
While the company will no longer base daily operations Chapala, Cuidatec will continue nonprofit initiatives — focused on digital literacy, tech inclusion, and economic development—originally organized under Lakeside Tech Solutions.
A portion of the company’s target audience for new applications resides in Lakeside area, and the company will continue to engage with the community through focus groups and other direct feedback channels as well as opportunities to beta test new apps and technologies.
